Deconstructing & Decolonizing Therapy

Deconstructing therapy takes into account beliefs, identities, behaviors, patterns, and narratives that we may have internalized in our youth from society and those around us.

Decolonizing therapy is a modality to re-educate therapists and other professionals, which focuses on how the past, political, psychological, ancestral, and how people interact together. Decolonizing therapy not only addresses the various types of oppression that affect people in various cultures, but the intersectionality of those opporessions and how they affect us overall and in tandem.

What do you mean, Decolonizing and deconstructing therapy?

Decolonizing therapy

Our favorite quote:

“Therapy, as it stands is a colonial, outdated, Eurocentric, misogynistic, ableist, heterosexist and classist paradigm. We can do better.”
