Signs of Trauma & PTSD:

  • Hypervigilance

  • Second-guessing your intuition, “losing” that “gut feeling”

  • Panic, rumination, overthinking

  • Avoiding things that could cause you to feel triggered

Have you been feeling exhausted emotionally and physically?

Feeling hypervigilant, fearful, and experiencing flashbacks?

Second-guessing yourself and your own intuition?

Experiencing physical symptoms, including GI distress and chronic pain?

Finding yourself wondering how trauma happened?

At Janicki Holistic Healing, we provide trauma-informed care from a deconstructive and decolonizing lens. We also approach trauma and PTSD with an antagonism informed approach - meaning, we have a deep understanding of relational trauma across different types of relationships.

Trauma can happen to anyone. Trauma doesn’t take any life factors into account. We are here to help you navigate any of the symptoms you are struggling with, as well as offering a supportive and safe space to process your experience in the therapy space.

What is Trauma?

Trauma is defined as a deeply distressing or overwhelming life event that can eliminate or shatter a person’s sense of safety in the world, leading to potentially long-lasting physical, emotional, or psychological effects. Trauma looks different for everyone and is beyond military and veterans. Trauma can also take place in relationships, vicariously, or in family systems. Some examples of trauma we see often:

Physical, sexual, and emotional abuse

2SLGBTQPIA+ related traumas and stressors

Narcissistic abuse

Coercive control

Relational trauma

Religious trauma

Medical trauma & gaslighting

Natural disasters

and more…

Trauma fundamentally can change a person - and that doesn’t have to be a bad thing. When working with therapists that specialize in trauma, you can feel assured that you will be seen, heard, and validated in your experience. At Janicki Holistic Healing, we meet you where you’re at, meaning - we will not push you outside of your comfort zone until it feels safe for you to emotionally process. Both Jay and Melanie have extensive experience working with clients who have experienced trauma.

Our favorite quote:

““Trauma is personal. It does not disappear if it is not validated. When it is ignored or invalidated the silent screams continue internally heard only by the one held captive. When someone enters the pain and hears the screams healing can begin.””

-Danielle Bernock
